Sheridan: Farmers Market Gears Up To Open

The Sheridan Farmers Market kicks off May 3

Sheridan hosts one of the best, and most consistent, farmers market in Arkansas.

The farmers market's grand opening kicks off Saturday, May 3. The market will open every Saturday until Aug. 30 from 8:00 a.m. to noon on the Oak Street side of the Grant County Courthouse.

"Shoppers can look forward to fresh produce, locally sourced meats, a variety of homemade baked treats, fresh baked breads, artisan goods, jams, jellies, crafts and more," a release from Kick Start Sheridan, Inc., states.

The Grand Opening Market on May 3 will also feature the Annual Master Gardeners' Plant Sale with the Grant County Master Gardeners. 

More than just a market, the weekly event also includes a variety of activities throughout the season as well including live acoustic performances.

"Some other activities in the works include chef demonstrations, a health fair day, and kids craft activity days," according to the release.

The Sheridan Farmers Market is powered by Kick Start Sheridan, Inc, a community nonprofit, which has grown in recent years because of loyal vendors and small businesses with continued support from t​he City of Sheridan, the Grant County Courthouse, and the Grant County Chamber of Commerce. 

"We have been blessed to be awarded Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP) Grants each year, from Farm Credit & the Arkansas Department of Agriculture," the release states. "The FMPP Grant assists farmers markets like ours throughout the state with funds for advertising each year. These grants aid in the sustainability of our market from season to season."
