Why Does Rosston Audit Show Non-Compliance Year After Year?

Nevada County town has issues in offices of mayor and treasurer. Again.

Rosston, population 269, sits in Nevada County but is considered part of the Hope Metropolitan area.

In a Legislative Joint Auditing Committee report, dated Dec. 30, 2024, the town was found in noncompliance of state law in the offices of the Mayor and Recorder/Treasurer.

Those findings were nothing new.

In fact, Rosston seems to have repeated audit problems like a lot of small towns in Arkansas.

The latest audit shows that in 2023 street fund disbursements in Rosston exceeded budgeted appropriations by $131,360 — or 536%.

That's in noncompliance with Ark. Code Ann. 14-58-203 according to the auditors.

Other issues were found in the offices of the Mayor and Treasurer.
